Why Is Good Friday Good???

If the Son of God was put to death in
a decidedly torturous and cruel way,
why do Christians call the day Good?

If Jesus' Father loved Him so much,
why did He insist upon His death as
so many critics of Christianity lament?

The answer is really quite simple and
boils down to just two words: love and
justice!

First off, God is the Judge of all the
Universe and unlike many judges
(and juries and attorneys), He is
neither partial or unfair. Who can
bribe Him and with what would they
bribe Him with?

Let's create a little hypothetical
scenario - Maybe a billion years
ago or perhaps a trillion, there
was One God and Three Persons
just as there is now. None of us
can understand this concept which
for one means that man didn't
create this doctrine of the Holy
Trinity and it explains perfectly
where love originated!

Now in our scenario, one Member
of the Trinity suggest that the
Universe (along with our tiny
planet will be created and that
this planet will be populated
with humans that will be different
from all animals because these
persons will have a soul that
lives on forever and with freedom
of choice to serve or not to serve
their Creator.

Since the One True God, the
Trinity, knows the future and
what it holds, it was known that
all of us would choose to go our
own way and ignore our Creator
and would have to be judged by
our Creator. The Judge of all
the Universe knew that these
future beings - mankind - would
have to be punished unless a
way of escape could be made.
So, the 2nd Member said that
He would be willing to go down
to this tiny little planet because
He loved you, me and everybody
else so much that He would take
our punishment upon Himself
and this would meet all the legal
requirements for everyone who
accepted this pardon and believed
in Him. All three Members of the
Holy Trinity thought this was a
very good idea and so it was put
into place at the appointed time
(this is the end of our scenario
because in actuality God is both
omniscient and eternal and has
always known what would happen
in the future and nothing ever
catches Him by surprise or off
guard).

Therefore, Good Friday is Good
because it demonstrates His love
for us while we were still law
breakers and His offer is open
to all who ever lived, alive now
or yet to be born and this offer
meets all the legal requirements
of a God who never winks at sin.
In fact, heaven would be hell if He
did.

Just a word of warning, He only
provided ONE WAY of escape
and to try and substitute any
other way is to totally reject
the pardon that He so willingly
offers to all mankind.

Just think about it! What love
He has for us. Thank you God
for Good Friday so that all who
accept Your only way (Your pardon)
might spend forever with You
in total complete happiness, joy
and perfection where never can
even the smallest sin enter!!!
